Other than Health, Livelihood and Community Development, AFPMBAI believes that providing education to its members’ dependents must be given priority. After establishing scholarship programs, in 2014, the Association ventured in providing early childhood education to dependents through building Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) Centers nationwide.
Turnover of 2nd ECCD Center
Last February 10, AFPMBAI represented by Social Services Program Committee and Board Member, MGen Demosthenes C Santillan AFP; and Social Services Office, turned over the second EECD Center to 6th Infantry Division at Camp Siongco, Awang Datu Odin Sinsuat, Magindanao, represented by its Commander, MGen Edmundo R Pangilinan AFP.
The educational center in Kampilan Learning Center will accommodate approximately 30 students and is complete with equipment.
Groundbreaking of 5th ECCD Center
Meanwhile, on February 12, 2016, the construction of the 5th and the latest ECCD Center commenced as its groundbreaking ceremony was held at Matikas Park, Camp Capinpin, Tanay Rizal.
The said center will have complete educational equipment and tools, tables and chairs.
Present during the ceremony were AFPMBAI representative, EVP/Head, Sales and Operations Grop and COO, RAdm Philip L Cacayan AFP (Ret); Head, Audit and Enterprise Risk Management Office, RAdm Primitivo P Gopo AFP (Ret); Philippine Army Commanding General, LtGen Eduardo M Año AFP; PA 2nd Infantry Division Commander, MGen Romeo G Gan AFP; and other military personnel.
The construction of the ECCD Center is expected to be completed this 2016.
Before the year 2015 bids goodbye, the AFPMBAI extended another social service to its members by donating 16 rescue ambulance units in a turnover ceremony led by AFP Chief of Staff and AFPMBAI Chairman of the Board, Gen Hernando DCA Iriberri AFP and AFPMBAI President and CEO, MGen Edgardo Rene C Samonte AFP (Ret) last December 14, 2015, at the General Headquarters Canopy.
An AFPMBAI Rescue Ambulance is complete with rescue tools, such as shovels, 24-inch axe, head immobilizers, 24-inch bolt cutters, chainsaws, all-risk helmets, spine boards and pneumatic chisels. The said donation was turned over to aid the different branches of service in mitigating pre- and post- emergency responses to natural and man-made calamities that can happen in the country.
The donation of AFPMBAI Rescue Ambulances is part of the Calamity Assistance and Response Equipment (CARE) Project of the Association in line with its commitment in providing meaningful social services to its members and enhancing their devotion to secure every Filipino throughout their lives.
The ceremony was attended by the AFPMBAI Board of Trustees, Vice Chairman, RAdm Jose Renan C Suarez AFP; Members, DDG Danilo S Constantino PNP, BGen Rolando M Aquino AFP, MGen Emeraldo C Magnaye AFP, Mgen R Demosthenes C Santillan AFP, RAdm Cecil R Chen PCG, CSupt Romeo S Elisan Jr BJMP and CSupt Rodrigo R Abrazaldo; and AFPMBAI executives and managers.
