As the AFPMBAI commemorates its 50 years of providing quality service to the uniformed personnel, the Association celebrated one of its milestones with the groundbreaking of the new Luzon Branch Office (LBO) last April 28, 2015 at Bayani Road, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City and the ongoing reconstruction of the AFPMBAI Annex building along Bonny Serrano Road, Quezon City.
The soon to rise 3,606-square meter LBO building will have seven (7) floors that will house the Southern Luzon Unit, Fort Bonifacio Branch, and other offices including the off-site disaster recovery back up. The building will also have two (2) levels of basement parking which can accommodate 37 vehicles, while the remaining spaces of the groundfloor will be for lease.
An Early Childhood Care and Development or ECCD Center will likewise be part of the LBO building which envisions catering pre-school education to dependents of members in the area.
The lowering of time capsule was led by AFPMBAI President, MGen Edgardo Rene C Samonte AFP (Ret) along with AFPMBAI Executives, Head, Sales and Operations Group, Col Edmundo F Gammad (Ret); Head, Corporate Services Group, Commo Raul B Leyritana AFP (Ret); Head Branch Operations Department, RAdm Philip L Cacayan AFP (Ret); and Head, Real Estate Department, Fe E Gerona; and distinguished guests, Head of the Taguig City Tourism and Trade Office, Zaida Ignacio and AFPOVAI Homeowners Association President , Col Dennis R. Arao, PA (Ret).
On the other hand, the former AFPMBAI canteen is undergoing reconstruction to provide a more suitable dining to employees. The new building will be housing several offices currently occupying the head office thereby resulting to space decongestion of the latter.
For years, the AFPMBAI canteen has been within what was known before as the AFPMBAI Auditorium Building. The structure sits between the AFPMBAI and AFPGEN buildings and over time, has been converted to other uses.
Because of the sheer height of the structure, an additional floor has been added to maximize space and was referred to as the mezzanine floor. This floor houses the Insurance Representatives’ office, Employees’ Union office and Security Personnel’s billeting room, while the ground floor is where the AFPMBAI canteen is located. However, because of the growing needs of the Association, the Management has decided to demolish the structure and construct a new building.
The structure of the new AFPMBAI Annex Building will be composed of two floors and a roof deck, covering a total area of 1,193 square meters. The ground floor will be the site of the AFPMBAI canteen with 84 seating capacity, having an improved kitchen, kitchen equipment and servery area. Also proposed to be located in the building are a coffee kiosk, an executive lounge, a nurturing and children’s play room and the General Services Unit’s storage room.
The second floor will house the Administrative Department’s Office, multi-purpose rooms and security personnel’s quarter.
Meanwhile, the roof deck will be the location for the mechanical component of the building while the remaining space can be used as an outdoor function area.
The Management looks forward that the new Luzon Branch Office and Annex buildings will not only be viewed as a physical improvement but rather, something that will help improve the services extended to our members.
The AFPMBAI Annex Building and the new LBO Building are expected to be completed in October this year and in 2016 respectively.
